International Animal Law Conference

The University of Quebec in Montreal, recalls the holding on May 21st and
22nd 2009, the first international animal law conference in Canada: Animal within the sphere of humans’ needs. Organized by the International Research Group in Animal Law (GRIDA), this international symposium will deal with a wide range of issues related to the legal status and welfare of animals.

This innovative event will welcome speakers from a wide array of disciplines. From the Philosophy community Tom Regan (Animals and the Law: The Need for Reform) and Steven Wise (Progress of the Nonhuman Rights Project)

The conferences will take place in either french or english. A system of
simultaneous translation will be available throughout the symposium.
